Lucknow: The women’s Wushu team of University of Lucknow delivered an impressive performance at the All India Inter-University Wushu Championship 2025-26, securing a silver medal and bringing pride to the institution.
The championship was hosted by University of Kashmir and witnessed participation from universities across the country in both men’s and women’s categories.
Representing Lucknow University, athlete Varsha Tanwar showcased outstanding skill and determination in the Under Style Chandan events, winning a silver medal for the university. With this achievement, she has also qualified for the Khelo India Championship 2026.
The university team was accompanied by team manager Dr. Shobha Ram Dubey during the championship.

Speaking to the media, Prof. Ajay Kumar Arya, General Secretary of the Sports Council, said that nearly 1,600 players from around 195 universities participated in the prestigious national-level championship. He congratulated the player and the team management for bringing laurels to the university through their remarkable performance.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jai Prakash Saini also extended his congratulations to the athlete and the Sports Council. He expressed confidence that Lucknow University athletes would continue to perform well and secure more medals in upcoming competitions.
The achievement has been widely appreciated within the university community and is being seen as a major encouragement for aspiring sportspersons at the institution.
