Sports Events Mark Gujarat Day Celebrations at Rohilkhand University

Bareilly | A series of vibrant sports competitions were organised at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University to celebrate Gujarat Day, bringing together students in a spirited display of athleticism and cultural unity.

Held under the guidance of the  Governor, the event aimed to strengthen linguistic and cultural harmony among students. Programme Coordinator and Sports Secretary Prof. S.S. Bedi said the initiative sought to foster a sense of unity by encouraging students to engage with diverse cultures through sports.

The university sports ground hosted a range of competitions, including races, shot put, long jump, and wrestling. Students from various departments participated enthusiastically, showcasing their talent and competitive spirit.

At the conclusion of the events, winners and runners-up were felicitated with prizes and certificates in recognition of their performances.

The Vice-Chancellor, addressing the gathering, highlighted that such initiatives play a crucial role in realising the vision of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.” He noted that Gujarat Day celebrations offer students an opportunity to appreciate the country’s rich cultural diversity.

Prof. Bedi, in his remarks, emphasized that sports are not only vital for physical fitness but also help inculcate discipline, teamwork, and leadership qualities. He encouraged students to continue participating in such activities with enthusiasm.

Faculty members including Prof. Sanjay Mishra, Prof. Tulika Saxena, Prof. P.B. Singh, Dr. Ajit Singh, Dr. Vijay Sinhal, Dr. Neeraj Kumar, and Dr. Saurabh Verma were present on the occasion and motivated the participants. Several other dignitaries and staff members also attended the event, making it a successful and engaging celebration.
