Lucknow: In a significant administrative overhaul, the Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has transferred 38 IAS officers across the state. The large-scale reshuffle includes fresh appointments of District Magistrates (DMs) in eight key districts, signaling a renewed push for administrative efficiency and governance reforms.

One of the most notable moves involves IAS officer Rinku Singh Rahi, who had recently made headlines after resigning from his post citing lack of work while attached to the Revenue Council. In a notable turnaround, the government has now appointed him as Joint Magistrate in Jalaun.

New District Magistrate Appointments

The reshuffle has led to significant changes in district leadership:

  • Madhusudan Hulgi, previously serving as Special Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office, has been appointed DM of Deoria.
  • Samuel Paul N takes charge as DM of Jaunpur.
  • Anand Vardhan, Vice Chairman of the Gorakhpur Development Authority, has been posted as DM of Mau.
  • Gaurav Singh Sogarwal, former Municipal Commissioner of Gorakhpur, is now the DM of Maharajganj.

Further changes include:

  • Santosh Kumar Sharma has been transferred from Maharajganj to serve as DM of Firozabad.
  • Rajendra Pensia, previously DM of Sambhal, has been appointed DM of Moradabad.
  • Ankit Khandelwal, who served as Municipal Commissioner of Agra, will now take over as DM of Sambhal.
  • Abhishek Pandey has been appointed DM of Pratapgarh.

Administrative Signal

The reshuffle reflects the state government’s continued emphasis on performance-driven postings and administrative accountability. Frequent transfers at the district level are often aimed at strengthening governance, accelerating development projects, and ensuring better law-and-order management across regions.

Officials indicate that the move is part of a broader strategy to align administrative leadership with evolving governance priorities in the state.

Further transfers and departmental changes are expected as the government continues to fine-tune its bureaucratic machinery.
