Astrologer Rinhee Suberwal Decodes the Secret Behind Mumbai’s Joy Quotient

Mumbai: Mumbai’s top ranking as Asia’s happiest city has sparked conversations across sectors, but for astrologer, tarot card reader and crystal healer Rinhee Suberwal, the answer lies beyond infrastructure and economics. She believes the secret is deeply rooted in mindset and spiritual alignment.

“Everything is to do with manifestation. If you are looking at everything positively, then you will be able to manage everything alone,” says Suberwal, highlighting the role of perception in shaping emotional well-being.

According to her, Mumbai’s identity as the commercial capital plays a significant role in how residents experience happiness. “This city makes people ambitious. It makes them work hard and live a better lifestyle compared to any other city in India. Being the commercial capital, Mumbai is also known as Maya Nagari. It traps people in its illusions, the dream of being successful or well known, and somewhere, even if it is not entirely real, people do find their happiness here,” she explains.

Rinhee adds that the city’s relentless pace leaves little room for emotional reflection. “Mumbai has a very fast-paced lifestyle, so people do not really have the time to determine what is happiness and what is sadness,” she says.

She believes that Mumbai stands apart because it fuels aspiration like no other place. “Mumbai drives your ambition. And in the process, if you get even a little bit of what you are working for, that makes you happy. If an individual can sustain in Mumbai, they can sustain anywhere in the world. That becomes a guiding force behind people feeling happy,” she notes.

However, she also points to a deeper philosophical distinction. “It is always about relative happiness, meaning you are happy because you have certain things. I am happy because I have certain things. But our ultimate goal should be to achieve absolute happiness,” Suberwal says.

Looking at the city through a spiritual lens, she connects Mumbai’s energy to its divine roots. “From a spiritual perspective, this is the land of Mumba Devi, associated with Shukra. Anything ruled by Venus radiates luxurious, larger-than-life happiness,” she explains.

Rinhee also observes a shift in recent years, with more people turning inward. “People are becoming more spiritually aware. Earlier, they had lost touch with spirituality, and that is when suffering increased. Now there is greater awareness about mental health, well-being and inner peace. This naturally leads to a happier and healthier life,” she says.
