Bareilly: The Department of Education (B.Ed./M.Ed.) at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University organized a special lecture on the occasion of World Oral Health Day, aiming to spread awareness about oral hygiene and debunk common myths associated with dental care.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor K. P. Singh, whose encouragement played a key role in making the event successful. The session featured renowned dental expert Prerna Agrawal from Bareilly International University as the chief speaker. The event was organized under the leadership of Department Head Prof. Santosh Arora, while B.Ed. student Meenu Pandey anchored the session.
In her address, Dr. Prerna Agrawal emphasized that oral health is closely linked to overall health, noting that the oral cavity can be the root cause of several diseases if neglected. She highlighted the importance of the “2×2×2” formula—brushing twice a day, for at least two minutes, and visiting a dentist twice a year.
She also shared practical insights on interdental brushing, tongue cleaning, flossing techniques, causes of bad breath, wisdom teeth, root canal therapy, and dental implants. Referring to the “Sugar Board” initiative introduced by CBSE, she stressed the need for balanced dietary habits among students. Concluding her lecture, she delivered a key message: prevention is always better than cure.

Students actively participated in the interactive session, raising queries and gaining clarity on various aspects of oral health. They described the programme as highly informative and useful, especially in helping them guide future students as educators.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Rambabu Singh, who expressed gratitude to the guest speaker, university leadership, faculty members, and participants. The programme witnessed the presence of faculty members, staff, and a large number of B.Ed. and M.Ed. students, marking another meaningful step by the university toward health awareness and community education.
