Grand Opening of GPS-6 Night Cricket Tournament in Gonda; Akhilesh Yadav Announces Stadium Construction

Gonda: The GPS-6 Night Cricket Tournament, held in memory of Mulayam Singh Yadav, commenced with great enthusiasm at the Jigar Inter College ground in Gonda. The event witnessed a grand inauguration by Akhilesh Yadav, National President of the Samajwadi Party and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, through virtual video conferencing from the party’s state office.

During his address, Yadav congratulated the organizers for successfully hosting the tournament and emphasized the importance of such events in nurturing local sports talent. He also made a significant announcement, stating that a stadium would be constructed in Gonda if his party forms the government in 2027.

Praise for Organizers and Strong Participation
Yadav lauded city president Mateen Siddiqui and councilor Faheem Siddiqui for their efforts in organizing the tournament. The event saw the presence of several prominent figures, including former minister Rakesh Kumar Verma, along with Ashray Gupta, Arshad Hussain, Shakeel Nadvi, Munir Ahmad, Masood Alam Khan, Baijnath Dubey, and Suraj Singh. A large number of party workers, officials, and sports enthusiasts also attended, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere at the venue.

Exciting Matches Mark Opening Day
The opening day featured thrilling encounters under the Gonda Premier League Season 6:

  • In the first match, Fine Furnitures Gonda defeated Sher Awadh Haldermau. After restricting Haldermau to 124 runs in 10 overs, Fine Furnitures chased down the target with five wickets in hand. Shaan was named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
  • The second match saw New Janata Medical dominate Royal Group. Posting a strong total of 139 runs in 10 overs, Janata Medical restricted Royal Group to just 89 runs, securing a comprehensive 56-run victory. Suraj Sharma earned the Man of the Match award.
  • In the third match, which was also the first quarter-final, New Janata Medical faced Fine Furnitures. With disciplined bowling, Janata Medical restricted their opponents to 76 runs. Chasing the target, the team secured a six-wicket win, powered by a शानदार half-century from senior player Saad Khan, who was declared Man of the Match.
