Lucknow: A thought-provoking literary seminar and poetry gathering was organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Sahitya Parishad, Lucknow Mahanagar unit, on the occasion of the Hindu New Year, or Nav Samvatsar. The event was held at the residence of national president Sushil Kumar in Srijan Vihar and witnessed participation from prominent literary figures and cultural enthusiasts.
The programme began with a traditional (lamp lighting) ceremony and Saraswati Vandana, with Nirbhay Narayan rendering devotional verses. The Parishad song, emphasizing cultural harmony and literary upliftment, marked the formal inauguration of the event.
Addressing the gathering, National General Secretary Pawankumar ‘Badal’ stressed that in the current global crisis, it is time for citizens to become more aware of their duties and responsibilities. He also emphasized the importance of studying classical and contemporary literary works, including those of Acharya Abhinav, to better understand India’s rich literary heritage.
Avadh Prant President Vijay Tripathi highlighted the need not just for new creation but for the revival and reconstruction of India’s traditional literary and cultural writing practices. Meanwhile, Lucknow Mahanagar President Nirbhay Narayan Gupta shared details of the organization’s activities over the past year, including 14 major events focused on literary discussions, poetry sessions, cultural programmes, and literary tours. He underlined the importance of encouraging reading habits among children and youth.
The event also featured captivating cultural performances. Rajeev Verma ‘Vatsal’ mesmerized the audience with poetry accompanied by flute recitals, while Dr. Mamta ‘Pankaj’ presented a traditional Chhath song, showcasing India’s folk heritage. Vinod Kumar ‘Bhavuk’, Executive President, प्रेरित the audience with lines reflecting courage and historical pride, urging everyone to stay connected with their roots through literature.

Several poets and writers, including Arvind Rastogi, Manmohan Barakoti ‘Tamacha Lakhnavi’, Mrigank Srivastava, Ram Prakash, Jyoti Kiran Ratan, Kumar Taral, Vinod Kumar Shuddh Manuk, Ankit Dixit, Dr. Baljeet Srivastava, and Ravi Shankar, presented their compositions. Their works reflected themes of Sanatan Dharma, Navratri, and Ram Navami, celebrating cultural continuity and spiritual values.
A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Parishad’s literary magazine “Sahitya Parikrama” by the chief guest, marking another step toward promoting literary discourse and creative expression.
The gathering concluded with a collective resolve to strengthen India’s literary traditions and promote cultural awareness, especially among the younger generation, while celebrating the spirit of Nav Samvatsar on a global scale.
