Bareilly: A one-day divisional-level Khadi seminar was organized in Bareilly to promote the relevance of Khadi among the youth, with a special focus on its role in sustainable fashion and nation-building. The event was organized by the Uttar Pradesh Khadi and Village Industries Board for the financial year 2025–26 at Urban Haat.
The seminar was inaugurated by Arun Kashyap, representative of the Cantonment MLA, who formally opened the event by cutting the ribbon.
Promoting Sustainable and Indigenous Fabric
The primary objective of the seminar was to raise awareness about Khadi as an eco-friendly, indigenous, natural, and sustainable fabric. Speakers emphasized the importance of promoting Khadi among the younger generation as a modern and fashionable choice, aligning with the theme “Khadi for Fashion, Khadi for Nation.”
The discussions also highlighted Khadi’s vital role in advancing the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and generating rural self-employment opportunities.
Expert Insights and Awareness Drive
The seminar featured insightful lectures by experts including Dr. Laxmi and Dr. Jyoti Gupta from Sahu Ramswaroop Mahila Mahavidyalaya, along with Nikhil Singh and representatives from the Regional Gandhi Ashram, Pilibhit. They encouraged participants to incorporate Khadi products into their daily lives and adopt them as part of contemporary fashion.
Support for Beneficiaries
During the programme, 10 beneficiaries selected under the Khadi policy were provided free popcorn-making machines by the chief guest’s representative, aiming to boost small-scale entrepreneurship and livelihood opportunities.

The event saw the presence of Manoj Kumar Gupta, along with district-level Gramodyog officers and staff from across the division, as well as members of the public.
The seminar successfully highlighted the growing relevance of Khadi in modern times, blending tradition with innovation while promoting sustainable development and economic self-reliance.
