NSS Volunteers Lead Cleanliness Drive Across Villages in Gonda, Rally Spreads Awareness

Gonda: Volunteers from the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Mahavidyalaya carried out an extensive cleanliness awareness campaign on the second day of their seven-day special camp, reaching out to rural communities with the message of hygiene and public health.

The special camp, being held from March 23 to March 29 at an upper primary school in Pared Sarkar village, saw enthusiastic participation from students committed to community service.

Awareness Rally Across Villages

On the second day, NSS volunteers organized a large awareness rally covering several villages, including Bangarhwa, Pared Sarkar, Nevalganj, and Bankatacharyaganj. Moving from door to door, volunteers interacted directly with residents, spreading awareness about the importance of cleanliness and preventive healthcare.

Through the campaign, villagers were educated on maintaining sanitation in their surroundings and adopting hygienic practices to reduce the risk of diseases. The rally served as a platform to connect with rural households and reinforce the importance of collective responsibility in keeping villages clean.

Information on Government Schemes

Alongside promoting cleanliness, volunteers also informed villagers about various government welfare schemes. The initiative aimed to ensure that rural populations are aware of and can benefit from ongoing development programs.

Experts Guide Volunteers

A post-lunch intellectual session was organized as part of the camp activities. The session was inaugurated by chief guest Dr Rekha Sharma and special guest Karunesh Dwivedi, who paid floral tribute to Goddess Saraswati before addressing the gathering.

Senior Programme Officer Pawan Kumar Singh, along with Dr Chaman Kaur, Dr Parvez Alam, and Dr Dileep Shukla, welcomed the guests by presenting traditional सम्मान tokens.

Emphasis on Human Service

Addressing the volunteers, Dr Rekha Sharma emphasized that service to humanity is the highest duty and highlighted the vital role of NSS in achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047. She encouraged students to imbibe the values of compassion, social harmony, and active citizenship.

The programme was conducted by Dr Parvez Alam, marking another impactful day of community engagement under the NSS initiative.
