AI Integration in Medical Research and Education Discussed at Annual Workshop at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute

Lucknow: An annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme and Alumni Meet focusing on the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare was organised by the Department of Physiology at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences.

Held under the banner of the ASSOPI UP Chapter, the event centred on the theme, “Integration of Artificial Intelligence in Contemporary Medical Research and Education.” The programme took place in hybrid mode at the auditorium of the institute’s Academic Block from 2 pm to 5 pm and witnessed enthusiastic participation from medical professionals, researchers, students and academicians.

The scientific session commenced with an introductory address by organising chairperson Prof. Sunita Tiwari, who highlighted the increasing relevance of AI-driven technologies in medical science and academic learning. Experts from various fields shared insights into how Artificial Intelligence is reshaping healthcare research, diagnostics and teaching methodologies.

Delivering the keynote lecture, Prof. (Dr.) R.K. Garg spoke on the importance of Artificial Intelligence and discussed its advantages and limitations in the medical field. He explained how AI has the potential to revolutionise disease diagnosis, data interpretation and patient care while also cautioning against ethical concerns and overdependence on technology.

Another major session was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Bhattacharya on the topic “Change Your Way of Studying,” where he encouraged students and researchers to adopt modern digital learning methods and technology-based educational tools to enhance academic performance and research capabilities.

Speakers at the workshop emphasised that AI is becoming increasingly indispensable in medical research and education. Experts noted that AI-enabled tools can help researchers analyse complex medical data more efficiently, improve accuracy in scientific outcomes and accelerate innovation in healthcare studies. Students were also encouraged to equip themselves with technology-oriented learning skills to remain future-ready in an evolving medical landscape.

The programme began with a welcome address by Head of the Department and organising chairperson Prof. (Dr.) Rajni Bala Jasrotia. The event was conducted under the guidance of Director and Chief Patron Prof. (Dr.) C.M. Singh.

Senior institute officials including Dean Prof. Pradyumna Singh, CMS Prof. Vikram Singh, MS Prof. Arvind Singh and Executive Registrar Prof. Subrata Chandra extended their support towards the successful organisation of the programme.

Dr. Pramita Dubey served as organising secretary while Dr. Shivam Verma worked as joint organising secretary. The workshop drew participation from around 250 delegates attending physically and nearly 85 participants joining online.

Faculty members of the Department of Physiology, including Dr. Vibha Gangwar, Dr. Manish Verma, Dr. Arvind Pal and Dr. Vidushi Singh, along with resident doctors and non-teaching staff, also played an important role in organising the event successfully.
