Chief Secretary Reviews Progress of PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: A high-level review meeting on the progress of the Prime Minister Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY) was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh. The review, conducted by the Project Monitoring Group, assessed the registration of establishments and overall implementation of the scheme across the state.

Providing details, Principal Secretary, Labour and Employment, Dr. M. K. Shanmuga Sundaram, stated that Uttar Pradesh has achieved 65% registration progress, with 34,785 establishments registered out of a total of 53,768 contributing establishments as of March 17, 2026. Through these registrations, 3,05,129 new members and 8,86,319 re-employed members have been enrolled under the scheme.

District-Wise Progress
Several districts have shown notable performance. Agra leads with 80% registration, followed by Kasganj (74%), Firozabad (70%), Aligarh (69%), and Mathura (66%). Gautam Buddh Nagar and Unnao have also recorded strong progress at 75% each. Gautam Buddh Nagar alone accounts for the highest enrolment, with over 1.39 lakh new members and 4.94 lakh re-employed members.

Pending Registrations a Concern
Despite progress, 16,560 establishments remain unregistered across the state. Districts with the highest pending cases include Gautam Buddh Nagar (2,320), Lucknow (1,465), Ghaziabad (1,591), Kanpur Nagar (961), Prayagraj (483), Varanasi (704), Meerut (676), and Bulandshahr (441).

Additionally, 1,792 establishments have reported new or re-employed members between August 1 and September 5, 2025, but are yet to be registered under PMVBRY. These cases have been identified as a high-priority category requiring immediate action, particularly in districts like Gautam Buddh Nagar, Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Sonbhadra, and Varanasi.

Coordination Efforts Intensified
The review highlighted enhanced coordination between EPFO officials and district administrations. Meetings have been conducted at the divisional level in 25 districts, while coordination meetings involving District Magistrates and Chief Development Officers have been held in 41 districts to accelerate implementation.

The Chief Secretary emphasized the need for continuous coordination between EPFO regional offices and district authorities to ensure timely registration and maximum beneficiary coverage. Officials have been directed to expedite pending cases, particularly in high-backlog districts.

The state government reiterated its commitment to the effective implementation of PMVBRY, aimed at boosting employment generation and extending social security benefits to a wider section of the workforce.
