Gonda: Ritu Shahi, member of the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission, visited Gonda district to conduct a public hearing addressing women’s grievances. The session, held at the Circuit House, received a total of 17 complaints. Out of these, nine cases were resolved immediately, while directives were issued to concerned officials for prompt resolution of the remaining eight cases. Ms. Shahi emphasized that injustice against women will not be tolerated under any circumstances and ensuring justice for every victim remains a top priority.
Following the hearing, Shahi participated in the International Women’s Day and Holi Milan celebration at the Town Hall in Gandhi Park. She urged all sections of society to actively contribute to women’s empowerment, highlighting that education, awareness, and self-reliance are key to helping women secure their rights and earn a respected place in society.
Shahi then inspected Kasturba Gandhi Residential School, Darzikua, where she noticed a broken window. She immediately directed the concerned authorities to repair it and stressed that student safety and proper facilities should be treated as the highest priority.
The visit also included an inspection of the Community Health Centre, Wazirganj, where she assessed the quality of healthcare services and instructed officials to ensure women receive timely and high-quality medical care.

District officials present during the visit included District Probation Officer Santosh Kumar Soni, District Programme Officer Sanjay Upadhyay, Women’s Police Station In-charge Anita Yadav, Protection Officer Chandramohan Verma, and Centre managers Chetna Singh, Priyanka Singh, and Siddhnath Pathak.
Shahi’s visit reinforced the commission’s commitment to rapid grievance redressal and the empowerment and safety of women in the district.
