LUCKNOW: The Vivekananda Polyclinic and Institute of Medical Sciences (VPIMS) celebrated its 57th Foundation Day on Wednesday, a date that coincides with the birth anniversary of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa. Marking more than five decades of healthcare excellence, the institution observed the day as “Dedication Day,” honoring its legacy of providing affordable medical care to the masses.
Free Medical Services for the Public
To commemorate the occasion, the hospital opened its doors to the public with free OPD services, surgeries (OT), and Radiology and Pathology investigations from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Hundreds of patients benefited from these complimentary diagnostic and consultation services, upholding the hospital’s mission of serving the underprivileged.
39th Annual CME: “Human Life from Appearance to Disappearance”
As part of the celebrations, the institute organized its 39th Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) seminar. The session focused on the theme “Human Life from Appearance to Disappearance” and other evolving aspects of modern medicine.

Participation: Over 100 senior clinicians and postgraduate medical students attended.

Inauguration: The event began with the traditional lighting of the lamp and Vedic chanting by trainee nurses.

Keynote: Chief Guest Prof. Ravichandran V., Vice-Chancellor of Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University (DPSRU), emphasized the relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings in modern education and healthcare.
“Today’s CME is specifically focused on how we can implement the latest research, evidence-based medicine, and innovative techniques into our daily clinical practice,” said Prof. Ravichandran.

Welcoming the guests, Swami Muktinathananda, Secretary of the Institute, noted that the hospital was established in 1970 on the auspicious birth anniversary of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa.
“After 57 years, we remember and express our heartfelt gratitude for the dedication of our veteran employees. Following Swamiji’s objectives, this institution must continue to grow as a beacon of service,” the Swami remarked.
Dr. B.K. Singh, Medical Superintendent, presented the hospital’s Annual Report, showcasing the institution’s progress and clinical achievements over the past year. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Kiron Chopra, Vice President of the Executive Committee of Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Lucknow, who lauded the management for their exemplary contribution to affordable healthcare.
