Mayawati Confirms BSP Will Contest 2027 Uttar Pradesh Elections Independently

Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati has officially stated that her party will not enter into any alliances for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. She dismissed recent media speculation about potential electoral partnerships, affirming that the BSP is preparing to fight the polls on its own with the aim of securing a full majority.

Rumours Denied

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Mayawati called reports of alliance talks “unfounded” and politically motivated. She urged the public not to be misled by what she described as fabricated stories, emphasizing that the party has consistently relied on its organisational strength and has no plans to change this approach.

Reference to Kanshi Ram Rally

Mayawati highlighted the BSP’s message at the party’s October 9, 2025, rally in Lucknow commemorating founder Kanshi Ram’s death anniversary. She said the rally clearly conveyed the party’s intention to contest the elections independently, despite rival political groups allegedly spreading rumours to undermine the BSP’s preparations.

Critique of Rival Parties

Without naming specific leaders, Mayawati criticised the approaches of the Congress, Samajwadi Party, and Bharatiya Janata Party, arguing that alliances based solely on electoral calculations lack ideological coherence. She noted that past alliances had not delivered lasting benefits for the BSP, reinforcing the party’s decision to focus on “Mission 2027” independently.

Delhi Residence Clarification

Addressing controversy over her Type-8 Delhi bungalow, Mayawati explained that the accommodation is part of official security arrangements. She cited the June 1995 State Guest House incident in Lucknow as the reason for her upgraded security and clarified that the current residence replaces her earlier bungalow at 3 Thyagaraj Marg.

Call for Organisational Focus

Mayawati urged party workers to stay focused on strengthening the BSP’s grassroots presence and remain vigilant against misinformation from rivals. She cited the party’s 2007 majority victory as proof of what disciplined organisation and focused campaigning can achieve, calling for renewed dedication to the BSP’s mission and Ambedkar-inspired social ideals.

As political activity in Uttar Pradesh intensifies ahead of the 2027 polls, Mayawati’s statement underscores the BSP’s commitment to an independent electoral strategy, prioritising organisational strength over coalition politics.
