Lucknow | In a major breakthrough, the Lucknow Police Commissionerate has busted an inter-state gang involved in burglaries at locked houses and arrested four habitual offenders. The operation was carried out jointly by the PGI Police Station and the Surveillance Cell of the South Zone.
According to police officials, the gang used to conduct reconnaissance of locked residential properties before executing thefts. The arrests were made near the vegetable market area ahead of Vrindavan Gate in Lucknow.
Stolen Items Recovered
Police recovered stolen property from the accused, including one air gun (rifle), ₹42,362 in cash, a substantial quantity of gold and silver jewelry, four wristwatches, and two pearl necklaces. Officials stated that the recovery was 100 percent, indicating that all stolen items linked to the reported case were successfully retrieved.
In recognition of the swift action, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) announced a reward of ₹15,000 for the police team involved in the operation.
Details of the Case
The case came to light after a written complaint was filed by Vivek Mohan at the PGI Police Station. According to the complaint, unidentified burglars broke into a locked house belonging to his relative in Eldeco Udyan-2, Sector-03, between February 2 and February 6.

Following the complaint, an FIR was promptly registered, and an investigation was launched. Using surveillance inputs and technical evidence, police traced the suspects and apprehended them.
Investigation Underway
Police officials believe the gang may be linked to other similar theft cases across districts and possibly in neighboring states. Further interrogation of the accused is underway to uncover additional connections and recover more stolen property, if any.
The successful crackdown has brought relief to residents in the area, particularly those concerned about the rising incidents of burglaries in unoccupied homes.
Authorities have advised citizens to inform local police before leaving homes locked for extended periods and to install security measures such as CCTV cameras and alarm systems to prevent such incidents.
