Noida Traffic Police Crack Down on Vehicles with Black Film, Thousands Challaned

Noida | The Noida Traffic Police have intensified their drive against vehicles fitted with black film, issuing challans to thousands of violators as part of a sustained enforcement campaign. Over the past two years, action has been taken against as many as 39,114 vehicle owners for illegally using black film on their vehicles.

According to police officials, the special campaign is being conducted continuously to curb the growing trend of black film usage, which remains banned under traffic regulations. Despite awareness about the prohibition, many vehicle owners continue to install black film after purchasing cars, treating it as an essential feature similar to factory-fitted accessories.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Dr. Praveen Ranjan Singh, said that in 2024 alone, challans were issued to 20,825 vehicles, while in 2025, action was taken against 18,289 vehicles. He added that fines for using black film range from ₹5,000 to ₹10,000, depending on the violation.

Dr. Singh explained that earlier, regulations permitted up to 30 percent visibility in vehicle glass, but the rules have since been amended to mandate 100 percent visibility. As a result, installing black film from car decor shops is now completely illegal. However, he clarified that some vehicles come with company-fitted tinted glass, which does not significantly affect visibility and is permissible under the rules.

The DCP reiterated that fitting black film on vehicle windows is strictly prohibited and warned that strict action will continue against violators. He urged motorists to avoid using black film and comply with traffic laws to ensure road safety and security.
