Lucknow: In a major breakthrough under a special drive to curb narcotics trafficking at railway stations and aboard trains, a joint team of GRP Charbagh, Crime Intelligence Branch (CIB), Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested four interstate drug traffickers and recovered 120 kilograms of ganja from their possession. The seizure was made at Badshahnagar Railway Station, with the contraband estimated to be worth around ₹24 lakh in the international market.
The action was carried out in compliance with the directions of the Additional Director General of Police (Railways), Uttar Pradesh, and the Inspector General of Police (Railways), Lucknow–Prayagraj, under the supervision of the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Railways), Lucknow, and Senior Superintendent of Police (Railways), Lucknow. The operation was monitored by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Railways)-I.

During routine checking on Platform No. 3 at Badshahnagar Railway Station, the joint team intercepted Train No. 15109 Mathura–Chhapra Express. Four suspicious passengers seated on Seats No. 37, 38, 39 and 40 in Coach A-1 were detained for questioning. A thorough search of their five trolley bags led to the recovery of 120 kg of ganja, packed in small packets.
The arrested accused have been identified as Chandan, son of Jawahar; Amrit Devi, wife of Rajesh; Neelu Devi, wife of Rajesh Ram; and Ritu Devi, wife of Dilip— all residents of Siwan district, Bihar.

According to officials, the accused were involved in interstate trafficking of ganja, transporting the contraband from Siwan (Bihar) via Mathura to Chandigarh (Punjab) using train routes. Legal proceedings under the relevant sections of law are underway, and the accused are being produced before the court.
The successful operation involved personnel from GRP Charbagh and Gomtinagar Outpost, including SI Amit Kumar, Imran Ahmed, Ravindra and Pooja Devi; officers from the Crime Intelligence Branch including SI Sunil and Sunit Kumar; NCB Assistant Director SI Vikas Chandra; and RPF Gomtinagar SI Lalitesh, along with other officials and staff.
Authorities reiterated that such coordinated operations will continue to strengthen the fight against narcotics trafficking across railway networks.
