Lucknow: Saadatganj Police have arrested five alleged accused in connection with an attempted murder case involving a shooting in Lucknow, recovering the firearm allegedly used in the crime, live ammunition, a motorcycle and a mobile phone. The arrests were made following a coordinated operation launched after the incident that took place on July 24.
According to police, the shooting occurred in the Yaseenganj locality under the Saadatganj police station limits, where Abdul Khan, son of Safar Khan and a resident of Shahmina Shah Dargah Chowk under Chowk Police Station, was allegedly shot with the intention to kill. Following the incident, Saadatganj Police registered Case No. 166/2026 under Sections 109, 115(2), 127(2), 352, 190, 191(2) and 191(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Acting on the directions of senior police officers, two special investigation teams were constituted to identify and apprehend those involved. After sustained surveillance and intelligence gathering, police arrested all five wanted accused in separate operations conducted on July 26 and July 27.
The first team arrested Wali Shah (23), Abdul Rahman (25) and Mohammad Sahil (25) near Tilli Mill Ground in Saadatganj on July 26.
The second team, acting on a tip-off, arrested Mohammad Aman Ali alias Munna Qureshi (21) near Kothari Bandhu Chauraha, close to Lal Pathology Laboratory, on July 27. Police recovered a country-made .32 bore pistol along with three live cartridges from his possession. During questioning, investigators said Aman Ali allegedly admitted to using the weapon in the July 24 shooting, following which Section 3/25 of the Arms Act was added to the case.
The same team also arrested Mohammad Aman (20) from the area. Police seized a white Pulsar NS 125 motorcycle (registration number UP32RH8755) believed to have been used in the offence, along with a Realme Android mobile phone.

The five arrested accused have been identified as:
- Wali Shah, son of Sharif Miyan, a resident of Karimganj and currently living in a rented accommodation in Saadatganj, aged 23.
- Abdul Rahman, son of Mohammad Rafi alias Padauna, a resident of Yaseenganj, Saadatganj, aged 25.
- Mohammad Sahil, son of Peer Mohammad alias Babloo, a resident of Ram Nagar, Saadatganj, aged 25.
- Mohammad Aman Ali alias Munna Qureshi, son of Siraj Ali, originally from Amethi and currently residing in Gulab Nagar, Saadatganj, aged 21.
- Mohammad Aman, son of Mohammad Imtiaz, a resident of Yaseenganj, Saadatganj, aged 20.
Police said the following items were recovered during the operation:
- One country-made .32 bore pistol allegedly used in the shooting.
- Three live cartridges.
- One Pulsar NS 125 motorcycle.
- One Android mobile phone.
Investigators stated that several of the accused have previous criminal records. Wali Shah has multiple cases registered in Saadatganj and Thakurganj police stations involving assault, criminal intimidation and other offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Aman Ali alias Munna Qureshi also has several previous cases registered against him, including offences under the BNS and an earlier case under Sections 323 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code at Chowk Police Station. Mohammad Sahil has a previous criminal case registered at Chowk Police Station, while Abdul Rahman and Mohammad Aman are also facing proceedings in the present case.
Police said all the accused have been produced before the competent court, and further legal proceedings are underway. The investigation is continuing to determine the motive behind the attack and to gather additional evidence.
The operation was carried out by a Saadatganj Police team comprising Sub-Inspectors Yogendra Kumar, Rohit Saroj, Chandrakant Yadav and Ajay Kumar Chaurasia, along with Constables Ashish Pal, Vinod Kumar, Mangaldev Yadav, Ajay Kumar Singh, Kartikeya Singh and Ankit Kumar. Senior officers said the case was solved through coordinated field operations, intelligence inputs and sustained surveillance.
