Women’s Renaissance in Sarojini Nagar: Dr. Rajeshwar Singh’s Model of Empowerment
Lucknow: Reaffirming his vision for an inclusive and progressive India, Sarojini Nagar MLA Dr. Rajeshwar Singh delivered a powerful message on X on Wednesday, stating that “when women progress, India rises.” His statement reflects a broader national sentiment that women’s empowerment is not merely a social initiative, but a cornerstone of India’s developmental roadmap.
Dr. Singh highlighted key global indicators, pointing out that if women in India join the workforce at the same rate as men, the nation’s GDP could surge by 27%, according to the World Bank. Yet, as per the PLFS 2023 report, only 41% of Indian women currently participate in the workforce. “The awakening of Matrushakti is the greatest engine of India’s progress,” he said.
Self-Reliant Women, Self-Reliant India
Citing an ILO study, Dr. Singh stressed that when women earn, family expenditure on education rises by nearly 90%. He noted that working mothers not only support households but strengthen India’s human and social capital. “When a mother earns, her children’s dreams take flight,” he affirmed.
Sarojini Nagar: A National Example of Women-Led Growth
Under Dr. Singh’s leadership, Sarojini Nagar has emerged as a model constituency for women empowerment. What began as a series of initiatives has now transformed into a grassroots movement:
-
160 Tarashakti Centres, where thousands of women receive training in stitching, embroidery, designing and micro-entrepreneurship.
-
14 RBS Digital Empowerment Centres, equipping young girls with AI, coding and English communication skills.
-
The Sarojini Nagar Sports League, with eight championship categories, boosting confidence and leadership among young women.
“This is not just development; it is a social renaissance,” Dr. Singh remarked.
Education, Skills and Sports: The Three Pillars of Matrushakti
Government schemes like scholarships and bicycle distribution have enabled lakhs of girls to access schools and colleges. In Sarojini Nagar alone, more than 700 meritorious girls have received laptops and bicycles, reinforcing the message that hard work is honoured and rewarded.

Digital & AI Empowerment: Daughters Shaping India’s Future
Sarojini Nagar’s RBS Digital Empowerment Centres have become incubators of modern talent, where girls now learn Python, AI and Data Analytics. Under the Digital Sarojini Nagar model, 14 digital libraries serve over 500 children daily, creating a culture of early digital literacy.
“If our daughters become digital leaders in the age of AI, India will lead the world,” Dr. Singh asserted.
Rising Participation: Data Reflects India’s Social Transformation
-
Female labour participation: 23.3% (2017) → 41.7% (2023)
-
Rural female participation: 24.6% → 47.6%
-
Women in self-employment: 51.9% → 67.4%
These numbers show a decisive shift—women across India are breaking boundaries and redefining progress.
Equal Participation: The Road to Viksit Bharat 2047
Dr. Singh emphasized the need to ensure representation of women in every panchayat, office and institution. “This is the time to move from permission to participation,” he said, underscoring women’s role in building an Atmanirbhar, Viksit and Digital Bharat.
With India home to the world’s youngest population, equal opportunities for every daughter will determine the nation’s journey to 2047. As Dr. Singh puts it, “When half the population shoulders half the responsibility, India achieves its full flight.”
Sarojini Nagar today stands as a living example of this belief: when women work, families rise—and when millions of women work, India stands tall before the world.
