Mumbai: South Indian star Keerthy Suresh, currently busy promoting her upcoming film Revolver Rita, has expressed deep concern over the misuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI) after discovering that her photos were digitally altered and circulated online. The actress revealed that AI-generated deepfakes have modified her poses and outfits, creating misleading and inappropriate visuals.
“AI Is Dangerous,” Says Keerthy Suresh
Speaking to journalists during the film’s promotions, Keerthy Suresh said she was shocked when she saw a doctored image of herself created using AI.

“I was surprised to see my photos edited with AI, placing me in different clothes and spreading online. This technology is extremely dangerous,” she said.
She added that while technology has its benefits, it also comes with serious risks. “AI has advanced rapidly — both good and bad come from it. But the level of realism today is frightening. I saw an image and wondered if it was really me. AI is becoming a threat,” she said.
Women Need Protection in the Age of Deepfakes
Keerthy stressed that the misuse of AI especially endangers women, who are increasingly targeted with manipulated content.
“I recently saw a picture of me and my husband that looked completely real. I didn’t know what to believe. Humans created technology, but we are losing control,” she said.
She also described a disturbing incident where an outfit she wore to a recent film puja was altered using AI to present her in a different pose.

“For a moment, I was stunned, then I realised I never posed that way. It’s definitely disturbing,” she added.
Cinema Is Evolving, But So Are Threats
While discussing the film industry, Keerthy pointed out that women are finally receiving more substantial roles compared to earlier times. She noted that Tamil cinema has seen a decline in comedy films since the pandemic, but the use of AI in entertainment has grown significantly — for better and worse.
Andrea Jeremiah Also Speaks Out
Not just Keerthy, but popular South actress Andrea Jeremiah also reacted strongly to the growing dangers of AI. Known for her bold appearances, Andrea said the threat goes beyond entertainment.
“This technology creates challenges far outside the film industry. AI is becoming a problem for everyone, not just actors. AI should work for us — not the other way around,” she said.
As deepfake incidents continue to rise, actors across the country are urging for stricter safeguards, stronger regulation, and greater awareness to ensure digital safety in an increasingly AI-driven world.
