University of Lucknow Announces BOOST Awards 2023–24: Senior Faculty and Research Scholars Honored

Lucknow — The University of Lucknow has announced its prestigious BOOST Awards for the academic session 2023–24. Under its ambitious initiative BOOST (Building Opportunities for Outstanding Scholarship and Teaching), the university has recognized outstanding contributions across multiple categories. Over 100 faculty members and research scholars have been honored under the Uddeepan, Protsahan, and Acclaim categories for their exemplary work.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Manuka Khanna stated that this initiative is part of the university’s commitment to elevate teaching, research, and innovation to new heights. She remarked, “BOOST Awards are not just honors—they are a means to encourage academic excellence among our faculty and scholars.” She added, “The BOOST scheme will further strengthen the academic culture of the University of Lucknow. It will inspire faculty and open new avenues of research for young scholars.”

Uddeepan Awards 2023–24
This year, 50 senior faculty members have been selected for the Uddeepan Award. All of them have significantly contributed to research and teaching in their respective fields, enhancing the university’s reputation at the national level. In the research scholar category, 60 individuals have been honored for presenting high-quality work in science, education, and social studies. Uddeepan Award recipients receive ₹1100 and a certificate of recognition.

Protsahan Awards 2023–24
The Protsahan Awards recognize faculty members working on innovative research projects. Recipients receive ₹20,000 as research funding. Under Category II of the Protsahan Awards, seven faculty members have been selected, including Dr. Ajey Singh, Dr. Asha, Dr. Neha Sahu, and Dr. Sushma Mishra from the Botany Department. Their research includes soil remediation using nanoparticles, evaluation of bioactivity in medicinal plants, and flavonoid enhancement.

From the Chemistry Department, Dr. Bharat Kumar and Dr. Ramesh Chandra have been honored for projects on energy storage and water purification. Dr. Nidhi Mishra from the Zoology Department has been recognized for her study on the genotoxic effects of air pollution. These projects aim to address complex challenges related to environmental improvement, sustainable development, and public health—demonstrating innovation, ecological relevance, and societal impact.

Acclaim Award 2023–24
Under the Acclaim Award category, Dr. Fazil Ahsan Hashmi (Department of Urdu) has been honored for his literary contributions. He was recently awarded the “Shah Maqbool Ahmad Award” by the West Bengal Urdu Academy for his book Ketu Vishwanath Reddy Ki Kahaniyan. Recipients of the Acclaim Award receive:

  1. Commendation and certificate of honor
  2. Monetary incentive of ₹5000
  3. Medal
