Mumbai– National Geographic is set to release a deeply personal one-hour documentary titled “Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember”, which chronicles the Australian actor’s journey with his father, Craig Hemsworth, following an early-stage Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
Directed by Tom Barbor-Might, the documentary captures Chris and Craig revisiting childhood homes and other meaningful locations on a motorbike ride across Australia. “I’m on a road trip with my dad to revisit our history. He has Alzheimer’s in its early stages. I want to assist him as much as I can. It turns out that this experience could help fight the disease,” Chris said in the teaser. He added that different locations instantly brought memories to life for his father, helping rekindle cherished recollections.
The film also explores the science of social connection and memory enhancement under the guidance of Dr. Suraj Samtani, a clinical psychologist and dementia specialist at the University of New South Wales Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing. Through the journey, father and son strengthen their bond while examining how meaningful experiences can support cognitive health.
Chris shared on Instagram that the Northern Territory, where his family had lived for years, held special significance for the trip. “The notion of going on that road trip has just come back with more urgency. The outcome was a more profound, more moving, and more surprising journey than I ever imagined,” he said.

The documentary will premiere on National Geographic on November 23, with streaming availability on Disney+ and Hulu from November 24. It is produced by Protozoa, Nutopia, and Wild State in collaboration with National Geographic.
This heartfelt project offers a moving insight into family bonds, memory, and the power of revisiting one’s past in the face of Alzheimer’s.
