Lucknow — The 37th annual state conference of radiologists, Recon 2025, successfully concluded at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) on October 4-5, attracting over 400 radiologists and healthcare professionals from across Uttar Pradesh.
The conference, organized by the Uttar Pradesh chapter of the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (UP IRIA), was inaugurated by Padma Shri Dr. R.K. Dhiman, Director SGPGI, who lit the ceremonial lamp alongside Dr. Archana Gupta, Head of Radiodiagnosis and UP IRIA President, and Conference Secretary Dr. Anuradha Singh. Dr. Dhiman highlighted the importance of academic efforts and the role of state and national medical conferences in advancing healthcare.
Hands-On Learning and Live Demonstrations
A key highlight of Recon 2025 was a live fetal ultrasound demonstration, giving participants a rare opportunity to observe how modern imaging detects abnormalities in real time, enabling timely intervention for improved maternal and infant outcomes.
Sessions on musculoskeletal imaging showcased the latest techniques for diagnosing injuries, arthritis, bone tumors, and joint disorders. Participants noted how advanced imaging is transforming diagnosis and treatment, making patient care more accurate and effective.
Expert Knowledge and Ethical Focus
Top radiology experts from across India participated, including Dr. P.K. Srivastava (Lucknow), Dr. T.L.N. Praveen (Hyderabad), Dr. Vivek Kashyap (New Delhi), Dr. Shilpa Sitarkar (Aurangabad), Dr. Krishna Gopal (Ghaziabad), and Dr. Prachi Awasthi Singhal (Modinagar). Through lectures, case discussions, and interactive Q&A sessions, they shared knowledge, experience, and best practices.

Beyond technical expertise, Recon 2025 stressed ethical medical practice and social responsibility. Fetal imaging was highlighted solely as a medical tool, not for gender determination, aligning with legal and ethical standards. All participants publicly supported the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” initiative, emphasizing the importance of every girl child.
The conference also highlighted prenatal care, early detection of congenital disorders, and responsible radiology practices, reinforcing doctors’ role as public health advocates. Practical workshops and panel discussions equipped young radiologists with technical skills, ethical decision-making, and empathy, essential traits for modern healthcare professionals. Networking opportunities encouraged collaboration among doctors, policymakers, and industry leaders, providing a comprehensive learning experience.
Empowering Society Through Radiology
Dr. Archana Gupta said, “Recon 2025 was not just about machines and scans. It was about saving lives, empowering women, and educating the next generation. Medical imaging is not merely technology—it is a responsible tool for societal well-being.”
With a mix of state-of-the-art medicine, practical training, ethical guidance, and social commitment, Recon 2025 set a new benchmark for state-level medical conferences while highlighting the critical role of radiology in building a healthier, more informed, and equitable society.
