Kota, Rajasthan: This year’s Dussehra celebrations in Kota will witness the burning of the world’s tallest Ravan effigy. After nearly four months of meticulous work, craftsman Tejendra Chauhan from Ambala has created a colossal 221-foot Ravan, weighing approximately 13,500 kilograms. The construction of this record-breaking effigy cost around Rs 44 lakh.
The previous record for the tallest Ravan effigy was held by Delhi, which had a 210-foot effigy. On Monday night, the towering Ravan was transported to Kota’s Dussehra ground in preparation for the grand festivities.
Record Verification and Safety Measures
Vivek Rajvanshi, President of the Dussehra Mela Committee, confirmed that Kota’s Ravan will be officially recorded in the Asia Book of World Records and the India Book of World Records. Four separate teams from Delhi, including representatives from both record books, visited Kota to verify the effigy’s height and other specifications.
The effigy was erected at the Dussehra ground with the help of two cranes. Police personnel have also been deployed to ensure safety during the event.

Monumental Details of the Effigy
According to Tejendra Chauhan, the effigy’s face measures 25 feet and is made of fiberglass. A 58-foot crown adorned with colorful lights sits atop Ravan’s head. The effigy also features a 50-foot-long sword and 40-foot shoes. Twenty-five remote-controlled points have been installed on the effigy for fireworks during the burning ceremony.
Effigies of Ravan’s sons, Meghnath and Kumbhkaran, have also been created at 60 feet each. All three effigies will feature green fireworks, with Ravan’s effigy incorporating 15,000 green crackers, while Meghnath and Kumbhkaran’s effigies will have 4,000 each.
With its unprecedented height and grandeur, this Ravan promises to be a spectacular highlight of Kota’s Dussehra celebrations, drawing crowds from across the region.
