Missing Man Found Hanging from Tree in Muzaffarnagar, Family Alleges Murder

Muzaffarnagar: A week after going missing, the body of a man was found hanging from a tree in a decomposed state near the cremation ground by Chaukda Bridge in Charthawal, Muzaffarnagar district. The deceased has been identified as Naeem, son of Bhura, a resident of Charthawal town.

According to police, Naeem, who worked as a cart puller, had left home on September 5 saying he was going to catch fish near the Chaukda Bridge canal. When he did not return, his family lodged a missing complaint at Charthawal police station. Six days later, locals discovered his body hanging from a mango tree.

The discovery sparked outrage, with family members accusing police of negligence and alleging that Naeem had been murdered. Angry relatives initially refused to allow the body to be taken down. Tension eased only after CO Sadar Dr. Ravishankar and Station House Officer Jasveer Singh reached the spot, assured strict action, and persuaded the family to permit the body’s removal.

The body has since been sent for post-mortem. Police officials said further legal steps will depend on the findings of the autopsy report. Meanwhile, Naeem’s family has demanded a thorough probe and swift disclosure of the circumstances leading to his death.
