Lucknow/Greater Noida – In a tragic road accident, four friends riding on a single motorcycle lost their lives after a head-on collision with a car in Greater Noida. The incident took place on Kulesara Pushta Road under the Ecotech-3 police station area.

The victims were identified as Sumit, Lavkush, Rihan, and Monu Thakur, all aged between 16 and 18. According to eyewitnesses, none of them were wearing helmets, and all four were riding on a TVS Raider bike when it collided with a speeding WagonR (UP 16 CR 3293) coming from the opposite direction. The impact was so severe that the youths were flung onto the road. Locals rushed them to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead during treatment.

Among the deceased, Sumit and Lavkush were siblings studying in Class 8, while Rihan and Monu were employed at a factory in Habibpur. The boys often visited the area to shoot short videos, and it is suspected that they were returning from a similar outing when the accident occurred.

Police reached the spot immediately, seized the car, and took the driver into custody. The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination, and further legal proceedings are underway. Families of the victims were inconsolable, mourning the sudden loss of their children.

Police and Medical Response

DCP Shakti Mohan Awasthi confirmed that the crash involved overspeeding from both sides, leading to the fatal collision. Dr. Aishwarya, Emergency Medical Officer at Noida District Hospital, said: “Around 2:30 pm, four boys were brought in. ECG tests revealed no signs of life – all four had died before arrival.”

Call for Road Safety Awareness

The tragedy once again highlights the risks of neglecting safety rules. Ashutosh Soti, President of the Shubham Soti Foundation, which works on road safety awareness, stressed: “Travelling without helmets or seatbelts is extremely unsafe. In Uttar Pradesh, thousands of deaths occur every year primarily due to two reasons – disregard for traffic safety norms and delays in reaching hospitals after accidents. Awareness is improving, but society must collectively ensure that accident victims are taken to hospitals promptly without fear of police questioning.”

This incident has reignited concerns over road safety compliance, underscoring the urgent need for stricter enforcement and public awareness in the state.
