Lucknow: In a grand effort to infuse the spirit of patriotism among the younger generation, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has been commemorating the Kakori Train Action Centenary through year-long events across the state. Culminating on August 8, 2025, the mega celebration will conclude at the Shaheed Smarak in Kakori, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in attendance as the chief guest.
Launched on August 9, 2024, the centenary celebrations honored the sacrifice of India’s freedom fighters, valiant revolutionaries, and national heroes. Under the guidance of the CM and the leadership of the Department of Culture, programs were conducted in collaboration with schools, colleges, universities, NGOs, and various departments throughout the year.
The concluding ceremony will include a special tribute to the descendants of freedom fighters, a Tiranga Rakhi celebration with the participation of armed forces, paramilitary, and police personnel, and a live broadcast of Kakori-related events across all districts. The state government has urged full public participation, with programs at local shaheed smaraks involving flag hoisting, patriotic music, tree plantation drives, and essay, elocution, and art competitions under the banner “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.”

Throughout the year, initiatives such as storytelling sessions, plays on Kakori heroes, commemorative postal stamp releases, and memorial gardens were launched to educate children and youth about India’s revolutionary history. Exhibitions on national freedom movements, seminars in universities, and art competitions by Lalit Kala Academy were also part of the effort.
Chief Minister Yogi has emphasized that such events not only pay tribute to India’s heroes but also instill a deep-rooted sense of national pride and duty in future generations.
