Bareilly: The cultural evening at SRMS Ridhima came alive yesterday as it hosted the second edition of “Sahitya Sarita,” a special Hindi poetry conclave dedicated to emerging voices in Indian literature. The event was graced by poets from across Uttar Pradesh, presenting verses that touched on spirituality, love, patriotism, social issues, and humor.

The evening began with Ankit Tulsi from Bareilly who paid poetic tribute to Maa Jagdamba, painting vivid imagery of divine motherhood. This was followed by Divyansh Rawat from Lucknow, who recited lines full of emotion and isolation: “Sab mere the par koi nahi aaya mere dukh mein…”, leaving the audience in thoughtful silence.

Sneha Singh, a young poetess from Bareilly, captivated the crowd with a powerful invocation of Lord Shiva, blending spiritual fervor with poetic grace. Her lines on social decay and corruption—“Satta mein baitha har shakhs vidwan hai”—were met with nods of agreement from the audience. She also touched upon motherhood and female strength, calling out for societal introspection.

Adding laughter to the evening, Umesh Shakya from Shahjahanpur laced the gathering with his humorous couplets. His punchline—“Ek din humko daant padi gharwaali se, I love you bol diya tha saali ko”—drew peals of laughter from the gathering.

Anshu Gupta offered a deeply emotional recital dedicated to her parents. Her poem resonated with many when she said, “Main kuch kuch maa jaise ban rahi hoon…” and “Kandhe jhuk gaye papa ke.” Her words highlighted the silent sacrifices of parents with moving sincerity.

Representing Badaun, Akhilesh Thakur addressed women empowerment and the need to protect female identity. His strong poetic message—“Jag mein agar aurat nahi hoti, yeh veeran ho gaya hota…”—stirred patriotic emotions in the room.

The concluding performance by Dr. Kamalkant Tiwari from Bareilly was steeped in veer ras (heroic poetry). His verses like “Kalpana humari deshbhakti ka tarana likhti hai” roused patriotic fervor and left the audience emotionally charged.

The event was skillfully anchored by Ashwini Chauhan, and attended by SRMS Trust Chairman Dev Murti, Asha Murti, Aditya Murti, Dr. Prabhakar Gupta, Dr. Anuj Kumar, Dr. Shailesh Saxena, Dr. Rita Sharma, poet Rohit Rakesh, and several dignitaries of the city.

The success of “Sahitya Sarita” reaffirms SRMS Ridhima’s commitment to nurturing young talent and enriching the cultural tapestry of Bareilly.
