Lucknow: In a major move aimed at promoting financial inclusion and empowering its customer base, Punjab National Bank (PNB) has announced the complete removal of charges related to non-maintenance of the Minimum Average Balance (MAB) in all savings accounts. The new policy comes into effect from July 1, 2025.
The customer-centric decision is expected to especially benefit women, farmers, and individuals from low-income groups, making banking services simpler, more accessible, and inclusive. By doing away with MAB-related penalties, the bank aims to ease the financial pressure on account holders and encourage more people to adopt formal banking practices.
Speaking on the initiative, Ashok Chandra, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PNB, said:
“This decision reflects PNB’s unwavering commitment to inclusive banking. We believe that removing this charge will reduce the financial burden on our customers and bring more people into the fold of formal banking.”

With this step, PNB has once again reinforced its role as a socially responsible and customer-oriented financial institution, striving to deliver equitable and seamless banking services to every section of society.
