CM Yogi Pays Tribute to Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee on His Death Anniversary in Lucknow

Lucknow: On the occasion of the death anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, BJP leaders across the capital remembered his contributions to the nation. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid floral tributes at Dr. Mookerjee’s statue located at Civil Hospital, Lucknow.

Speaking at the tribute event, CM Yogi highlighted the sacrifices made by Dr. Mookerjee for the idea of Akhand Bharat (undivided India), stating, “It was on this very day in 1953 that Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee gave his life for the cause of national unity.” He further emphasized Dr. Mookerjee’s significant role as a Cabinet Minister in independent India, particularly in shaping the country’s industrial policy with visionary leadership.

CM Yogi also recounted how Dr. Mookerjee had resigned from his ministerial post due to concerns over threats to India’s unity and integrity shortly after independence. “As the first president of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, he laid the foundation of a new political movement in the country—one rooted in nationalism, unity, and integrity,” the Chief Minister added.

Party workers and leaders gathered in large numbers to pay homage to the legacy of the leader who remains a towering figure in the ideological roots of the BJP.
