Bareilly: The Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Izatnagar, organised a live telecast programme of the Prime Minister’s PM-KISAN installment release event, enabling farmers and stakeholders to witness the nationwide benefit transfer initiative aimed at supporting the agricultural community.
During the programme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing beneficiaries from Tarakeswar in Hooghly district of West Bengal, released the 23rd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. Through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), more than ₹18,880 crore was transferred directly into the bank accounts of over 9.44 crore farmers across the country.
The event was organised by IVRI’s Department of Extension Education and witnessed the participation of public representatives, government officials, and around 230 farmers from Bareilly district. Progressive farmers and women farmers were also honoured during the programme for their contributions to agriculture.
Among the dignitaries present were Bareilly MP Chhatrapal Singh Gangwar, Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Dharampal Singh, Bareilly District Panchayat Chairperson Rashmi Patel, and Mirganj MLA D.C. Verma.
Addressing the gathering, MP Chhatrapal Singh Gangwar highlighted various welfare initiatives being implemented by the Central Government for farmers and urged beneficiaries to complete their Farmer Registry process on time to ensure uninterrupted access to PM-KISAN benefits. He also elaborated on several agricultural and rural development schemes being implemented by both the Central and State Governments.
The MP further appreciated IVRI’s “Khet Bachao Abhiyan,” which focuses on creating awareness among farmers regarding crop protection, pest and disease management, and scientific farming techniques aimed at improving agricultural productivity and safeguarding crops.
Presiding over the programme, Dr. Roopsi Tiwari, Joint Director (Extension Education), explained that the PM-KISAN scheme provides direct financial assistance of ₹6,000 annually to eligible farmers to help meet agricultural expenses. She highlighted the role of various government initiatives in empowering farmers and also outlined IVRI’s contributions to livestock science and rural development.

Dr. S.K. Singh, Joint Director (Research), spoke about IVRI’s research achievements, advanced technologies, and ongoing efforts to support livestock farmers through scientific innovations and extension services.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Chhatrapal Singh Gangwar described PM-KISAN as an effective, transparent, and efficient scheme that leverages digital infrastructure to ensure direct delivery of benefits to farmers without intermediaries.
District Panchayat Chairperson Rashmi Patel praised the government’s focus on transparency, farmer welfare, and sustainable agricultural practices, noting that such initiatives are strengthening the rural economy and improving farmers’ livelihoods.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. H.R. Meena, In-charge of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, farmers, scientists, officers, and staff members for their active participation and support.
Senior scientists, officials from the Department of Extension Education, and representatives of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra were also present during the event, which underscored the continued efforts of IVRI and government agencies to strengthen farmer outreach and agricultural development.
