Firozabad / Lucknow: On the occasion of the 12th International Yoga Day, Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay participated as the chief guest in a mass yoga session held at the Police Lines Ground in Firozabad. The programme was organized under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “Yoga for Global Welfare” and the commitment of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath towards building a healthy and empowered Uttar Pradesh.
A large number of citizens, officials, students, and security personnel joined the collective yoga practice, demonstrating widespread enthusiasm for the global wellness movement.
Yoga India’s Gift to Humanity
Addressing the gathering, Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said that due to the tireless efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yoga has transcended national boundaries and is now being practiced in more than 190 countries across the world. He described yoga as an invaluable gift of India’s ancient Sanatan tradition that promotes the welfare of all humanity.
He further stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government is committed to ensuring a healthy society. He highlighted that yoga has been included in the curriculum of all universities and colleges in the state to empower the younger generation physically, mentally, and intellectually.

Yoga for Discipline and Nation Building
The minister emphasized that yoga is not merely a physical exercise but a foundation for a healthy body, calm mind, and balanced life. It fosters discipline, concentration, and positive energy, which are essential for personal growth and nation-building.
He urged everyone to take a pledge on this Yoga Day to make yoga an integral part of daily life, ensuring physical fitness, mental peace, and energetic living. He added that with positive energy and commitment, citizens can contribute significantly to the vision of “Developed India, Developed Uttar Pradesh.”
The programme concluded with enthusiastic participation in yoga exercises, reflecting the growing public acceptance of yoga as a way of life.
