New York, – Tech mogul Elon Musk has launched a scathing attack on the United States Congress, accusing lawmakers of intentionally driving the country towards bankruptcy by approving what President Donald Trump has dubbed the “Big Beautiful Bill.” This comes after Musk, a prominent figure in the Trump administration, openly opposed the legislation and subsequently resigned from his position at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Musk’s criticism, however, appears to have fallen on deaf ears within the White House, which has largely dismissed his concerns.
Earlier, as the former DOGE, Musk expressed his strong disagreement with the new expenditure law, which President Trump has lauded as a “Big Beautiful Bill.” Despite his official capacity, Musk took to his social media platform ‘X’ to condemn the bill, labeling it objectionable and “full of unnecessary spending.” He further criticized the lawmakers who voted in favor of it, stating, “Those who voted for it should be ashamed. You all know very well that you did wrong. I’m sorry, but I can’t take it anymore. Shame on those who voted for it.”

The White House, however, did not take Musk’s criticisms seriously, choosing to ignore them. Press Secretary Carolina Levitt, during a briefing, stated that “the President already knows Elon Musk’s stance on this bill. This does not change the President’s opinion. It is a big beautiful bill, and he stands by it.”
Musk’s opposition to the “Big Beautiful Bill” was not limited to social media. In a news channel interview, he elaborated on his disagreement, warning that the law would inflate the already massive budget deficit by $2.5 trillion. He directly accused Congress of “bankrupting America.” This is not the first time Musk has criticized the bill. Republican fiscal conservatives have argued that it could lead the country to bankruptcy, while independent analysts have warned that it could increase the deficit by up to $4 trillion over the next decade.
It is worth noting that US President Donald Trump had praised the “Big Beautiful Bill” during a press conference on May 30, calling it an “incredible bill” that “cuts your deficit.” Trump had also suggested he would prefer significant tax cuts. However, Musk, who was present at the press conference, did not voice his opposition to the subject at that time.
