Lakhimpur Kheri: In a major crackdown on cross-border smuggling, the Uttar Pradesh Police, Customs Department, and SSB jointly seized a consignment of human sex toys worth ₹2 crore that were being illegally smuggled from Nepal into India. The raid took place in the Sunda village of Gauriphanta police station area, located near the Indo-Nepal border.
Acting on a tip-off, police officials raided the residence of a member of the Tharu community, where the contraband items were reportedly being stored. During the search, authorities uncovered a hidden warehouse containing approximately 20,000 units of China-manufactured sex toys intended for illegal distribution across various Indian states, including Delhi.
Circle Officer (CO) Yadvendra Kumar confirmed the operation and stated that two individuals have been arrested, and further interrogation is underway. Preliminary investigations suggest that the seized items were meant to be distributed in several major metropolitan cities.

“This is a significant bust. These products were not only smuggled but also fall under the category of restricted imports, raising concerns about both legality and public health,” said CO Kumar.
Officials have taken the seized goods into custody and are now working to identify the broader network behind the smuggling. Authorities suspect that this may be part of a larger syndicate operating through porous border routes.
The successful operation underscores the continued vigilance of Indian agencies in curbing illegal trade across international borders, particularly in sensitive areas like the Indo-Nepal corridor.
