Lucknow: Following the conclusion of the Sansad Khel Mahakumbh, Defence Minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh attended an interactive session with senior BJP workers of the Lucknow West Assembly constituency at SMD Lawn in Munnu Kheda. In the meeting, he took stock of local issues and heard suggestions and concerns regarding development in the region.
Addressing the gathering, Singh said, “It has always been my priority to work according to the needs of the people of Lucknow. But I refrain from giving mere assurances because I believe that unfulfilled promises from politicians erode public trust. I have always tried to work sincerely and complete as many developmental works as possible according to people’s needs. But even after all efforts, it’s not always possible to fulfill every wish.”
He emphasized that people from other cities and even abroad, upon visiting Lucknow, often remark how much the city has changed for the better. “Imagine if the 104-kilometre Ring Road hadn’t been constructed—what would traffic look like today?” he asked rhetorically. He also pointed out that work is currently underway to build an underpass at Awadh Chauraha, information he received while passing through the area from Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak.

Highlighting the city’s rapid infrastructural advancement, Singh said, “The BrahMos missile, capable of striking distant enemy targets, will soon be manufactured in Lucknow. Terminal 3 of the international airport is now operational and world-class. The Gomti Nagar railway station is one-of-a-kind in the country. The Para overbridge has also been initiated.”
Addressing concerns raised by a party worker regarding the city’s sewage system, Singh admitted that the current infrastructure does not meet the required standards. “I have already spoken to the concerned minister. He has assured me that within 15 days, a meeting will be held with officials under the AMRUT scheme to address the problem swiftly.”

During the dialogue, senior party worker Satish Sharma said, “The kind of development we have seen in the Para region has never happened before.”
Councillor Guddu Yadav added, “The amount of work you have done is unmatched. If anyone can break that record, it will be you again.”

Another participant, Aarti Singh, expressed her gratitude for receiving a sewing machine under a women’s empowerment scheme. “We are truly thankful. It has provided employment opportunities to many women and helped make us self-reliant,” she said.
Abhay Upadhyay raised the issue of traffic congestion caused by encroachments near the Haiderganj end of the Chowk overbridge and requested a permanent solution.
Advocate KK Mishra, Convenor of the Legal Cell, brought up traffic congestion issues near the Civil Court and the old High Court premises. Defence Minister Singh responded by instructing Deputy CM Pathak to expedite a solution to these pressing issues.
Also present on the occasion were Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Sushma Kharkwal (City BJP President), Anand Dwivedi (MLC), Mukesh Sharma, Ramchandra Pradhan, former MP Ashok Vajpayee, MLA OP Srivastava, OSD KP Singh, MP representative Diwakar Tripathi, Office In-Charge Raghvendra Shukla, Anjani Srivastava, Mandal President Somendra Pandey, and several councillors and respected BJP workers from Mandal-3.
The event served as a platform for dialogue, reaffirming the party’s grassroots approach while also reflecting Rajnath Singh’s commitment to practical development and responsive governance in the constituency.
