CENTRAL COMMAND COMMEMORATES 53RD ANNIVERSARY OF VIJAY DIWAS.

Central Command of Indian Army, commemorated the 53rd Anniversary of Vijay Diwas with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at Smritika War Memorial in Lucknow Cantonment on 16 Dec, 2024. The ceremony paid tribute to the valour and sacrifices of soldiers in the 1971 Indo-Pak War.

Lt Gen Mukesh Chadha, Chief of Staff, Central Command, laid wreath on behalf of Surya Command, honouring the fallen heroes. The event was attended by veterans, NCC cadets, and military and civil personnel of Lucknow. Maj Vishnu Swarup Sharma, Veer Chakra (Retd), a war veteran and battle casualty of the 1971 War, graced the occasion. Lt Gen RP Sahi (Retd) laid a wreath at the memorial on behalf of the veterans.

Vijay Diwas is celebrated on 16th December every year to commemorate India’s historic victory over Pakistan in 1971. The day serves as a tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces.
