Lucknow: As per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, to conduct the special summary revision program of assembly electoral rolls and voter awareness campaign smoothly, a meeting of the State Level Sweep Core Committee was held with the representatives of various supporting departments in the Chief Electoral Officer’s office. All the subjects related to the voter awareness campaign were discussed in detail.
In the meeting, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Chandrashekhar informed that as per the schedule prescribed by the Election Commission of India, the document publication of the voter list will be done on 29 October 2024. The period for filing claims and objections has been fixed from 29 October to 28 November 2024. Special campaign days will be organized on 9, 10, 23 and 24 November during the revision. The final voter list will be published on 06 January 2025.
The Additional Chief Electoral Officer expected from the representatives of all the departments that all should promote the voter registration campaign through voter awareness banners on their departmental websites. Along with this, direct your district level offices to cooperate in voter registration.
He said that under the SVEEP program, a strategy for awareness programs should be made to register the eligible voters left out and to increase voter participation, in which special emphasis should be laid on young voters in the age group of 18-19. He said that young voters who are eligible on the eligible dates 1 April, 1 July, and 1 October 2025 can also fill Form-06 in advance.
The Additional Chief Electoral Officer said that the Higher and Secondary Education Department should run a special campaign for the registration of young voters through Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) in educational institutions. Ensure the organization of regular meetings of ELC in all districts and 100% registration of young voters in the age group of 18-19.
Volunteers of NSS, Bharat Scouts and Guides and Nehru Yuva Kendra should conduct voter awareness programs in their respective districts. A special campaign should also be run for the registration of disabled voters through the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. In the voter awareness campaign, especially women should be made aware and motivated to become voters.
