Minister AK Sharma takes pledge for cleaner times ahead

Lucknow:  Under the leadership of Union Minister, Housing and Urban Affairs,  Manohar Lal Khattar, in the program organized at Chanakya Hall of Sushma Swaraj Bhavan, New Delhi  with the theme of Swabhaav Swachhata, Sanskar Swachhata from 17 September to 02 October, Urban Development and Energy Minister of the state  AK Sharma joined virtually and gave information about the preparations being made for cleanliness and sanitation in the urban areas of the state.

He took a pledge with all the people involved in the program to complete and make this campaign successful in the urban bodies of the state.

Addressing the program virtually, Urban Development Minister  AK Sharma said that under the inspiration of  Prime Minister  Narendra Modi, Swachhata Pakhwada campaign is run every year from 17 September to 02 October in the state under Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyan. For the last three years, Swachhata Pakhwada is celebrated from 17 September to 02 October, Modi’s birthday.

All efforts are being made to make the urban areas of the state clean and beautiful. Efforts are being made to eliminate garbage sites in cities and legacy waste. Parks, gardens, Miyawaki gardens, wedding zones etc. are being built there to ensure that such places do not get dirty again.

Wherever such places are left, they will also be completely eliminated. To prevent water logging during rains and to prevent fly, mosquito borne diseases and communicable diseases, essential medicines are being sprayed. Efforts are being made for door to door garbage pickup. Also, garbage segregation is also being taken seriously. The Urban Development Minister said that the state government is serious about cleanliness and is working completely according to the guidelines of the Central Government regarding the Swachhata Abhiyan.

Awareness towards cleanliness is being created by increasing public participation. The cooperation of business establishments, institutions and voluntary organizations is being taken for the beautification of parks, gardens, squares of the cities. Efforts are being made to completely ban the use of single-use plastic. Along with this, special attention is being paid to cleanliness around historical places, monuments, religious places, public places and schools, hospitals around railway and bus stations. Regular cleaning is being done in urban areas from 5 am to 8 am every day.
