Bareilly: In a major push to promote religious tourism and improve public amenities, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved ₹7.91 crore for the विकास and beautification of key religious sites across Bareilly district. The announcement was made by Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh.
The funds have been sanctioned under the state plan for the financial year 2025–26, covering 12 tourism development projects across multiple Vidhan Sabha constituencies in the district. The implementation responsibility has been assigned to the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation, with strict instructions to ensure quality execution within stipulated timelines.
Among the major projects, ₹67 lakh has been allocated for the development of Thakur Ji Temple in Mirganj, while ₹65 lakh will be utilised for Shiv Mandir Pahlaunath in Faridpur. Another ₹67 lakh has been sanctioned for the ancient Shiv Temple in Maganpur, and ₹64 lakh for the development of a Draupadi Swayamvar-themed park in Aonla.
Additional allocations include ₹45 lakh for strengthening the yatri hall at Guladia Gaurishankar Temple in Aonla, ₹69 lakh for tourism development at Shirohi Temple in Bithri Chainpur, and ₹50 lakh for integrated tourism development at Ahichhatra.
Further, ₹71 lakh has been sanctioned for Purnagiri Shiv Temple in Bhojipura and ₹53 lakh for Anand Ashram Temple in Bareilly Cantonment. In the city area, ₹70 lakh each has been allocated for infrastructure development at Hanuman Temple in Bada Bagh and Shri Sitaram Temple, while ₹1 crore has been approved for façade lighting at Trivatinath Temple in Prem Nagar.

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, the minister noted that Bareilly, often referred to as the “Nath Nagri,” is home to a string of prominent temples that attract large numbers of devotees throughout the year. However, several of these sites lack adequate basic facilities, necessitating focused development efforts.
He further stated that the CM’s vision is to enhance religious and cultural sites across the state by improving infrastructure and accessibility. The initiative is expected to not only preserve cultural heritage but also boost footfall of pilgrims and strengthen the local tourism economy.
The sanctioned projects aim to provide better amenities for visitors while transforming Bareilly into a more vibrant religious tourism hub.
