Bareilly: A review meeting was held at the Collectorate auditorium under the chairmanship of Chief Development Officer Devyani to assess and improve arrangements in gaushalas (cow shelters) across the district.
During the meeting, officials were directed to prioritise the protection, care, and proper management of cattle. The CDO instructed all nodal officers to conduct regular inspections of gaushalas and submit detailed reports to ensure accountability and timely action.
Key aspects of inspection were discussed in detail, including availability of dry fodder and green feed, maintenance of stock registers, animal health conditions, and adequate drinking water facilities. Officials were asked to ensure that these parameters are closely monitored during field visits.
The CDO also emphasised that honorariums for gaushala operators must be disbursed on time. Inspection registers, mortality records, and stock registers should be thoroughly verified during visits. Any issues identified at gaushalas must be immediately reported so that prompt resolution can be ensured.
Special instructions were issued to maintain cleanliness, provide sufficient fodder and water, ensure proper shelter and shade, and arrange adequate medical facilities for cattle. Seasonal preparedness, particularly for extreme heat and cold conditions, was highlighted as a critical requirement.

Officials were further directed to establish separate sick wards in each gaushala for diseased animals, strengthen security arrangements, and eliminate waterlogging and unhygienic conditions. Ensuring proper lighting facilities across all shelters was also stressed.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Veterinary Officer, Deputy Director Agriculture, District Panchayati Raj Officer, along with nodal officers and other concerned officials.
The initiative aims to enhance the overall functioning of gaushalas and ensure better welfare standards for cattle across Bareilly district.
