Lucknow: The second day of the CISCE Regional Yoga Competition at Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, was a remarkable success, brimming with enthusiasm as students showcased their yoga skills. Participants from 11 zones—Prayagraj, Ghaziabad, Jhansi, Kanpur North, Kanpur South, Lucknow Zone A, Lucknow Zone B, Meerut, Uttarakhand, Agra, and Varanasi—stayed at the Seth M.R. Jaipuria Gomti Nagar campus for two days.
The competition featured 17 judges and over 300 students competing in three categories: U14, U17, and U19. In rhythmic yoga, students displayed yoga poses set to music, gracefully synchronizing their movements with the rhythm. In group yoga, teams performed poses in perfect harmony, demonstrating teamwork, coordination, and collaboration. Artistic yoga saw students performing intricate and creative poses with elegance and precision, transforming their routines into visual spectacles.
Day two began with an Om chanting competition, where each participant was judged on the duration they could chant Om in a single breath. Later, as participants eagerly anticipated the results, they were entertained by various cultural performances. Students of Seth M.R. Jaipuria School captivated the audience with their dance skills, leaving them spellbound.
Chief guest, Swami Taponidhi , conducted a session with the students of Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, during which he spoke about the benefits of yoga for students. The students asked questions about incorporating yoga into their academic routines. In response, Swami Taponidhi provided valuable insights, emphasizing how yoga can help build better concentration and alleviate stress.
Then it was time to announce the winners. Prizes were awarded by Rakhi Sarkar, Yoga Instructor & Founder of the International Yoga Foundation, Swami Taponidhi and other judges and coaches. Kanpur South Zone won the competition as the Overall Category winner, while Meerut Zone was the first runner-up. The Best Disciplined School award went to the schools of the Uttarakhand Zone.
From complex poses to synchronized movements, each performance was a testament to the dedication and hard work of both the students and their mentors.
