Varanasi Gears Up for Grand Dev Deepawali on November 5: ‘Clean Kashi, Green Kashi, Divine Kashi’ Theme to Illuminate the Ghats

Varanasi | As Varanasi prepares to celebrate Dev Deepawali on November 5, the city of light is set to dazzle once again with millions of earthen lamps illuminating the sacred ghats of the Ganga. Under the theme “Clean Kashi, Green Kashi, Divine Kashi,” this year’s celebration will combine faith, culture, and grandeur in an unparalleled spiritual spectacle.

According to Uttar Pradesh’s Minister for Tourism and Culture, Jaiveer Singh, preparations are underway on a war footing in coordination with the Tourism Department and local administration, ensuring beauty, safety, and seamless organization across the ghats and narrow lanes of Kashi. From Namo Ghat to Assi Ghat, the city will sparkle with smart lighting, floral decorations, theme-based installations, laser shows, and eco-friendly fireworks, offering visitors a mesmerizing experience of divinity and devotion.

Minister Jaiveer Singh noted that Dev Deepawali has evolved beyond a religious festival to become the spiritual and cultural identity of Kashi. He emphasized that no effort is being spared to make the celebration more appealing and organized this year. The ghats will be adorned with smart illumination, and CCTV and drone monitoring will be in place for enhanced security. Cleanliness drives, decoration of streets, and deployment of sufficient sanitation workers at each ghat are already underway.

To ensure devotees’ safety, 24×7 control rooms and command centers will continuously monitor CCTV feeds. Adequate public amenities such as toilets, drinking water, medical assistance, and first-aid centers will be made available. Emergency boat and ambulance services will be stationed near the ghats, while boatmen are being briefed on safety measures, life jackets, registration tags, and designated routes.

Highlighting the cultural attractions, Singh added that a 25-minute projection-based laser show will be held three times daily at Chet Singh Ghat, while sand art installations will grace the stretch between Kashi Vishwanath Ghat and Chet Singh Ghat. A 10-minute green fireworks and musical display in front of Kashi Vishwanath Dham Ghat will add to the festive grandeur.

“The primary aim of Dev Deepawali,” Singh said, “is to connect devotees with the ancient heritage, spiritual essence, and cultural richness of Kashi. This celebration truly reflects the soul of India’s timeless traditions.”
