Kolkata: Kolkata won the IPL 2024 trophy, ending a decade-long wait. Praising the team’s performance, captain Shreyas Iyer said that Kolkata played like a champion throughout the season.

After bowling out Hyderabad for 113 runs in 18.3 overs, Kolkata achieved a one-sided victory by scoring 114 runs for two wickets in 10.3 overs.
KKR’s 2024 campaign was one of the most impressive in IPL history, equaling the record for fewest losses in a season. In 2008, Shane Warne’s Rajasthan Royals had lost only three.

In the final, Kolkata dominated from the start, which started with Mitchell Starc taking the wicket of Abhishek Sharma, which was one of the best balls of the season.
Starc’s performance in the playoffs was important. Despite a poor start to the season, where he conceded 100 runs without taking any wickets in his first two matches, Starc was player of the match in both of KKR’s playoff matches, a first in IPL history.
Starc had taken 3 wickets for 34 runs against Hyderabad in Qualifier-1 and then in the final he took 2 wickets for 14 runs.
