Sahitya Utsav Jashn-e-Adab Cultural Kaarva’n Virasat: A Two-Day Literary and Cultural Maha Kumbh in Lucknow

Lucknow: The vibrant city of Lucknow, renowned for its deep connection to art, literature, and culture, recently hosted a spectacular celebration that enriched its legacy. The two-day Sahitya Utsav Jashn-e-Adab Cultural Kaarva’n Virasat, held at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, brought together an extraordinary confluence of literature, music, and performing arts, captivating audiences with its grandeur and diversity.

With its theme of celebrating Indian cultural heritage, the event offered free entry to the public, aiming to promote traditional art forms and instill a love for literature and culture among the younger generation.

The founder, Kunwar Ranjit Chauhan, shared his vision, stating, “This event holds immense significance for the literary world, serving as a beacon of inspiration for every Indian. Our primary goal is to drive societal change through the transformative power of literature and art. By uniting people across the nation, we aim to rekindle a deep love and devotion for Indian culture and heritage.Such programs go beyond being mere platforms for writers and artists—they also provide the youth with invaluable opportunities to immerse themselves in the richness of their cultural heritage. The festival featured a breathtaking array of events, including classical singing, ghazal performances, panel discussions, theatrical plays, mushaira, kavi sammelan, instrumental music, and folk singing. Esteemed artists from across the country gathered to present their art, making this event a hallmark of creativity and tradition.
The first day enthralled audiences with exceptional presentations such as ‘Katha Rang’, ‘Dastangoi – Dastan-e-Ram’, and the powerful play ‘Court Martial’, which showcased the brilliance of various Indian artists.

These captivating performances reinforced the audience’s faith in the timeless beauty of Indian art and culture.
The second day elevated the cultural experience further. The literary session ‘Sheri Nashist’ brought together literary stalwarts, including Padma Shri Prof. Ashok Chakradhar, Farhat Ehsaas, Madan Mohan Danish, and others, who enchanted the audience with their profound poetry and literary dialogue. Meanwhile, ‘Baitbaazi’, a unique poetic programme, filled the air with lyrical enchantment, complemented by soulful Sufi singing by Rajeev Singh and his group.

In the ‘Sur-Sandhya – Ghazal aur Lok Gayan’, the legendary Padma Shri Malini Awasthi and Pt. Dharamnath Mishra mesmerized the audience with their melodic renditions. The event also featured a remarkable harmonium performance by Pt. Dharamnath Mishra and a riveting tabla performance by Pt. Shubh Maharaj, drawing heartfelt applause.

The festival reached its peak with awe-inspiring performances by musical legends. The magic of Padma Vibhushan Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia’s flute created an otherworldly atmosphere, leaving the audience spellbound. Col. Dr. Ashok Kumar delighted everyone with a melodious saxophone performance, while Padma Bhushan Pt. Sajan Mishra and Swaransh Mishra delivered a soul-stirring performance of ‘Sur-Sadhana’.

The entire event culminated in a spectacular closing ceremony where music, poetry, and classical art came together to leave an indelible impression on every attendee.
