Bareilly: A grand sports meet was organised at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Stadium of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University on Tuesday, drawing enthusiastic participation from students across disciplines.
The event is part of a series of programmes being conducted in celebration of Gujarat Foundation Day and is being held under the inspiration of the Governor and the guidance of the Vice-Chancellor. The sports extravaganza will continue till May 1, 2026.
A range of competitions including the 100-metre race, shot put, long jump, and wrestling were held during the day. Both male and female students participated actively, showcasing impressive athletic skills and competitive spirit.
Addressing the participants, Sports Secretary Prof. S.S. Bedi highlighted the importance of sports in overall development, stating that physical activities not only enhance fitness but also instil discipline, confidence, and teamwork among students.
Assistant Sports Secretaries Dr. Vijay Singhal and Dr. Ajit Singh encouraged students, noting that such events play a vital role in nurturing talent and motivating youth to excel in both academics and extracurricular activities.

University officials, including Campus Secretaries Dr. Neeraj Kumar and Dr. Inderpreet Kaur, Registrar Harish Chand, and Controller of Examinations Sanjeev Kumar, appreciated the initiative, saying it fosters a healthy and positive environment on campus.
The event was successfully conducted with the support of coaches Dharmendra Sharma, Adarsh Gangwar, Randeep, and Raju, who guided participants on the field. Administrative staff, including office in-charge Rampreet, also contributed significantly to the smooth execution of the event.
The sports meet not only provided a competitive platform but also offered students an opportunity to showcase their hidden talents and engage in holistic development.
