“Rajeev Mishra Symbolized Art, Sensitivity and Dedication”: Exhibition and Tribute Meeting Held on Artist’s First Death Anniversary

Lucknow: A special art exhibition and tribute meeting in memory of renowned wash painting artist Rajeev Mishra was organized on the occasion of his first death anniversary by the State Lalit Kala Academy Uttar Pradesh.

The event was held in line with the art promotion initiatives of Yogi Adityanath and under the inspiration and guidance of Jaiveer Singh. The programme featured an exhibition of Rajeev Mishra’s artworks along with a discussion session focused on his life, artistic contributions, and creative legacy.

The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and inauguration of the exhibition by distinguished guests Umesh Saxena, Kaushal Kishore, Sitaram Kashyap and Bhupendra Kumar Asthana.

During the discussion and interaction session, speakers highlighted various dimensions of Rajeev Mishra’s artistic personality and achievements. In their addresses, Umesh Saxena and Sitaram Kashyap recalled several memories associated with the late artist and emphasized his remarkable contribution to the world of art. They described him as an important figure in the artistic tradition of Uttar Pradesh, known for his dedication, discipline, and creative vision.

Artist and art critic Bhupendra Kumar Asthana stressed the importance of systematic documentation and preservation of artists and their artistic heritage in the state. He remarked that safeguarding and archiving art is as essential as artistic creation itself. He also presented a critical analysis of Rajeev Mishra’s works, discussing the various mediums and themes explored by the artist and highlighting the uniqueness of his artistic approach.

Litterateur Kaushal Kishore spoke about Rajeev Mishra’s social concerns and humane outlook alongside his artistic accomplishments. He noted that a true artist is not merely a creator but also a socially sensitive and responsible individual, adding that Rajeev Mishra’s life reflected this philosophy in the finest manner.

A short film based on the life and artistic journey of Rajeev Mishra was also screened during the programme, portraying his struggles, emotions, achievements, and creative legacy in a moving and emotional manner.

At the conclusion of the event, his daughter Stuti Mishra expressed gratitude to the guests, artists, art lovers, and attendees while also sharing details about future art-related initiatives planned in his memory. The programme was conducted by Sahab Bakhsh.

Several senior artists, art enthusiasts, students of fine arts, and prominent members of the cultural community were present on the occasion.
