Rahul Gandhi got 101481 votes, BJP’s Dinesh Pratap Singh got 50892 and BSP’s Thakur Prasad Yadav got 3392 votes. It is noteworthy that in Rae Bareli, Rahul Gandhi is in direct competition with the BJP candidate. However, a total of 8 candidates including BSP are in the fray.

Earlier in 2019 also, the main contest on this seat was between Congress and BJP and Sonia Gandhi won the election by a margin of about 1 lakh 67 thousand votes by getting 5 lakh 34 thousand 918 votes. However, her victory margin was reduced significantly compared to 2014. At the same time, Dinesh Pratap Singh on BJP ticket stood second by getting 3 lakh 67 thousand votes.

While in 2014 Loksabha elections also, Sonia Gandhi won the election on Congress ticket by a margin of about 3 lakh 52 thousand votes. She got a total of 5 lakh 26 thousand 434 votes. BJP candidate Ajay Agarwal came second by getting 1 lakh 73 thousand 721 votes and BSP’s Pravesh Singh came third by getting only 63 thousand votes.
