Over 6,000 UP Workers Safe in Israel Amid Tensions, Yogi Government Maintains Close Watch

Lucknow: Amid ongoing tensions in Israel, more than 6,000 workers from Uttar Pradesh are reported to be safe, with the state government maintaining continuous monitoring in coordination with the Indian mission.

Officials said that under the direction of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the situation of all workers is being closely tracked. The Uttar Pradesh government is in regular contact with the Embassy of India in Israel to ensure the safety and well-being of Indian nationals, particularly those from the state.

Principal Secretary (Labour and Employment) Dr Shanmuga Sundaram has been in continuous communication with Indian Ambassador to Israel J P Singh. According to updates received from the embassy, all Indian workers in Israel remain safe, and no emergency or major threat has been reported so far.

Authorities noted that while there is a natural sense of concern due to the prevailing situation, there has been no significant demand from workers seeking immediate return to India. The embassy is maintaining active contact with all workers and ensuring that their needs are addressed promptly.

Officials also indicated that the overall situation for Uttar Pradesh workers remains stable. In a recent instance, some workers from the state even hosted visiting Indian journalists, reflecting a sense of normalcy in their day-to-day lives despite the tension.

The embassy has confirmed that a few Indian nationals, primarily traders and students, have voluntarily returned to India via Jordan, with logistical support provided by Indian authorities. Similar arrangements can be extended to workers if they choose to return.

First Secretary at the Indian Embassy, Dr Garika Tejeshwar, also reiterated that all workers from Uttar Pradesh are safe and no untoward incidents have been reported. The embassy’s control room has not received any distress signals, and workers are adhering to local security guidelines.

The Uttar Pradesh government maintains that it remains fully committed to the safety of its citizens working abroad. Regular reviews are being conducted, and coordination with diplomatic channels continues to ensure preparedness for any contingency.

To further assist workers, helpline services remain active. Additionally, a multilingual call centre operated by Israel’s Population and Immigration Authority is providing support to foreign workers, including Indians.

Despite intermittent reports of missile attacks in the region, officials maintain that the situation for Indian workers, especially those from Uttar Pradesh, remains under control. Both the state government and the Indian embassy are closely monitoring developments to ensure swift action in case of any emergency.
