Maharajganj: Reinforcing the message that rural development is incomplete without the education of girls, non-profit organization Educate Girls organized a Night Chaupal in Darhata Gram Panchayat of Mithaura block to encourage community participation in promoting girls’ education.
The initiative aimed to identify and support girls who are out of school or have discontinued their education, while creating awareness among parents and community members about the long-term benefits of educating daughters.
Held during the evening hours, the Chaupal witnessed enthusiastic participation from villagers, parents, panchayat representatives and local youth. Discussions focused on the importance of regular school attendance, the opportunities that education creates for girls, and the role of communities in ensuring that no child is left behind.
Participants were informed that an educated girl not only secures a brighter future for herself but also contributes significantly to the progress of her family and society. The event emphasized that investing in girls’ education is one of the most effective ways to drive social and economic development in rural areas.
To make the message more engaging and impactful, organizers screened inspirational videos and short films highlighting the transformative power of education. Community members also shared their views and expressed support for ensuring that every girl in the village has access to schooling.
Speaking on the occasion, village head Pratima said, “An educated daughter has the power to uplift two families. Making girls’ education a priority is a responsibility that belongs to all of us.”

Ved Prakash Yadav, District Programme Officer of Educate Girls, said that Night Chaupals provide an effective platform to reach a larger section of the community and spread awareness about the importance of girls’ education.
“At the grassroots level, community engagement is essential to bringing out-of-school girls back into the education system. Through such initiatives, we are encouraging families and local leaders to become active partners in this mission,” he said.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge by villagers to ensure that no girl in the village remains deprived of education. Participants vowed to work together to support enrollment, attendance and continued learning for every child, particularly girls, in the community.
The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen educational access in rural areas and underscores the growing role of community-led action in advancing gender equality through education.
