Bareilly: Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), Bareilly, is poised to usher in a new chapter in agricultural education with the likely inauguration of its newly constructed Agriculture Faculty building in the third week of July. University authorities have indicated that the formal inauguration is expected to take place before the commencement of the academic session 2026-27, during which new batches of B.Sc. Agriculture and M.Sc. Agriculture students will begin their studies.
The development marks a significant milestone for the university’s growing agriculture programme. While academic activities of the Agriculture Faculty commenced a year ago, students have so far been attending classes in temporary arrangements. With the inauguration of the dedicated state-of-the-art building, students will soon have access to a modern and well-equipped academic environment specifically designed for agricultural education and research.
Preparations for the inauguration ceremony are currently underway at a rapid pace. Extensive cleaning, maintenance and beautification work is being carried out across the faculty premises. University officials stated that strong winds and storms that recently swept through the area had caused several old trees around the building to fall, while branches of others were damaged. Efforts are being made to clear the debris and restore the campus landscape to ensure an attractive and safe environment ahead of the inauguration.
In addition to landscaping work, beautification and finishing activities are progressing inside the building, particularly on the upper floors where classrooms and academic facilities are being prepared for student use. The university administration aims to provide an enhanced learning atmosphere equipped with modern educational infrastructure.
Providing details about the new facility, Agriculture Faculty Dean and Head, Professor Upendra Kumar, said the building will house modern classrooms and advanced laboratories designed to strengthen practical learning and research-based education. He emphasized that the faculty follows the “Learning by Doing” model, which combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on training, and the new infrastructure will significantly enhance the effectiveness of this approach.
Professor Kumar further announced that from the academic session 2026-27, the faculty will introduce postgraduate programmes in Entomology and Plant Pathology. The launch of these M.Sc. specializations is being viewed as a major achievement for the Agriculture Faculty and is expected to provide students with greater opportunities for advanced study and research in critical areas of agricultural science.
In a message issued on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Professor K.P. Singh described the inauguration of the new building as a matter of pride for the university and a major step forward in strengthening agricultural education in the region.

“Mahathma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University is committed to setting new benchmarks in agricultural education. The inauguration of the newly constructed Agriculture Faculty building is a proud moment for all of us. This facility is not only equipped with modern amenities but also represents the fulfilment of a long-standing aspiration for students across Western Uttar Pradesh, many of whom previously had to travel long distances for quality agricultural education,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor noted that the university has been consistently working towards innovation, research and academic excellence. He added that the Agriculture Faculty is emerging as one of the university’s flagship academic centres and urged students to make full use of the opportunities being created through the new infrastructure and expanded academic programmes.
The establishment of the dedicated Agriculture Faculty building is expected to strengthen MJPRU’s role as an important centre for agricultural education in Western Uttar Pradesh. The facility will support teaching, research, laboratory work and skill development activities aimed at preparing students for careers in agriculture, agribusiness, research and rural development.
University officials also highlighted that the admission process for the academic session 2026-27 is currently underway for both B.Sc. Agriculture and M.Sc. Agriculture programmes. With the addition of new postgraduate courses and improved infrastructure, the university anticipates increased interest from aspiring students across the region.
The upcoming inauguration is expected to be attended by senior university officials, faculty members, students and distinguished guests, marking a significant milestone in MJPRU’s efforts to expand educational opportunities and promote agricultural advancement in Uttar Pradesh.
